On Tuesday evening, Frisch Kitchen turned into a gourmet bistro for the Harvest Dinner Challenge. Our guests claimed that their meal “was quite literally one of the best we’ve had in Ithaca, both in terms of the food as well as the company.” The true glory, however, was that our soiree succeeded in raising nearly $500, enough to provide 2 low-income families with fresh, healthy food from June through November.
* Nora Hansanugrum: food enthusiast, Johnson & Wales culinary graduate, Johnson MBA student ’13
* Emma Kirwan (myself): food blogger, Executive Director of Peaks Over Poverty
* Bobby Frisch (my beau): Owner – Guesthouse La Buena Onda, Johnson MBA student ’13
What? We hosted an exclusive dinner party to celebrate Ithaca’s bounty, and spread good health and good flavor to Ithaca’s families in need.
Why? Healthy Food for All provides low-income families in Ithaca with affordable Community Supported Agriculture shares (CSAs): a weekly box of fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms.
How? We offered 10 exclusive tickets at $30 minimum. We sold out in half a day. (We raised $463, just shy of helping TWO FAMILIES. To help us reach $500, please DONATE here).
We provided our guests with small bites and a memorable three-course meal paired with local libations. Enjoy reading our menu and recipes, and salivating over the montage of photos from the evening (boy was it hard to capture the dishes before whisking them out to the kitchen!). Thank you diners for your photos!
