Hearty greens are hard to dress. My usual go-to is garlic and olive oil. Here’s a sweet change. Pair with a simple side: whole grain toast spread with butter, thinly sliced radishes and a sprinkle of sea salt. Surprise yourself!
Nutmeg Greens, Toast with Butter & Radish
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 red onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 sage leaves, crumbled
- 1/3 cup golden raisins
- 1 big bunch mixed greens, coarsely chopped
- healthy dash of nutmeg
- salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Soak the raisins in a bowl of warm water. In the meantime, melt the butter and saute the onion until translucent. Add the garlic and raisins. Saute for a minute or two and add the greens and spices. Cover and saute until wilted. (You can add the stems first to soften them up before adding the greens).
