Hearty greens are hard to dress. My usual go-to is garlic and olive oil. Here’s a sweet change. Pair with a simple side: whole grain toast spread with butter, thinly sliced radishes and a sprinkle of sea salt. Surprise yourself!

Nutmeg Greens, Toast with Butter & Radish

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 sage leaves, crumbled
  • 1/3 cup golden raisins
  • 1 big bunch mixed greens, coarsely chopped
  • healthy dash of nutmeg
  • salt & pepper, to taste

  1. Soak the raisins in a bowl of warm water. In the meantime, melt the butter and saute the onion until translucent. Add the garlic and raisins. Saute for a minute or two and add the greens and spices. Cover and saute until wilted. (You can add the stems first to soften them up before adding the greens).
