Katie’s June Juice

June 27, 2013
Summer

This refreshing cocktail manifested like magic from this gorgeous girl’s fingertips, while a gaggle of aproned women trotted around Frisch Kitchen making pots of strawberry jam.

There’s a thing or two you should know about Katie. She is changing the world, for the better, with a big heart and dedicated foundation work in Tompkins County, NY. She’s also a powerhouse, just entering her second season of triathlons, and ambitious swims-across and rides-around various Finger Lakes, including Cayuga’s 100 mile Aids Ride for Life. Katie is an inspiration! She is just about the only person who can drag me out of bed and onto my bike for a sun-streaked, dewy, misty morning ride.

Katie’s do-good, athletic charms are mightily balanced with a zest for life. She can dance with abandon to The National and practiced swing to salsa. She’s a mermaid – a scuba girl who dreams of sea animals and coral reefs. And she’s taking me for my first time… She’s a cocktail alchemist, mixing playful flavors from what seemed like a well-visited (read: skimpy) bar shelf and refrigerator door in my kitchen.
